Sculpture as performance

  • To bring down the sculpture I had created in my studio space I decided rather than be in shot that I would tie string to the legs and pull them out. This was easier said than done! Whilst the sculpture can be an unpredictable beast when making it,  this had settled into a solid form. The sculpture had been standing for around six weeks giving the branches ample time to creak groan and put themselves where they want to be.

The first two attempts were a fail the different strings snapping under the strain of trying to pull the legs out, on the third attempt after getting considerably stronger line the sculpture returned to its original form in a matter of seconds.
